I love yoga……now. I wasn’t exactly a natural fit for yoga when I first started. I wasn’t that flexible, in body or mind, a bit stubborn actually and was quite a bad student when it came to respect for my teachers. There was anxiety and stress too because I was very competitive. It’s a miracle that I even stuck with yoga and that I tribute to my great teachers, Paul Tzlolisus, Annie Carpenter, Lisa Walford and Ryan Spielman who inspired me with their patience, practice, understanding and their stories. They taught me that yoga is the ultimate teacher though, because how we approach our yoga practice is how we approach life. The mat is a metaphor for our daily life. This journey of yoga has changed my life and has actually changed who I am today.
I have been teaching for 12 years and through that time I’ve learned to work with all populations. As they say, “life happens” and as we evolve so does our compassion, understanding and patience for ourselves, others and the world. This is how I came to studying yoga therapy with Jill Miller and Jasmine Lieb. I can offer help with injuries, and I can help if you are trying to concieve and if you never thought you could do yoga, I can help with that too. Yoga is a powerful healer.
I’m also a Buddhist studying under Lama Murut. My classes are an enlivening blend of classical yoga asana, vinyasa, pranayama, dharma and humor to lead you beyond mental limitation and into the boundless sense of freedom which is the goal of yoga. Sat Nam.
